Timney triggers:
Product Overview
The Timney triggers that impacts – the next trigger in the People’s Choice Line of Excellence from the craftsmen and women of The World’s Finest Trigger.
Timney has been asked for an AR trigger at a lower price without compromising on quality for budget-build AR’s. You asked, Timney listened.
Timney’s engineers figured out a way to machine the parts from billet steel (no skimping with metal injection molding or stamped, old-school parts),
assemble the triggers, and still hand-test this trigger by our trigger technicians at a price that you asked for.
The Impact will give you a crisp, clean break and will drop in to all Mil-Spec AR’-15s. All components are captive in the lightweight, aluminum alloy housing.
Hammer is wire-EDM machined from S7 tool steel that combines hardness to resist wear with superior impact resistance to withstand heavy use without chipping or breaking.
Other components are EDM cut from A2 tool steel, then heat treated to Rc 56-60 for long service life.
Installs using your rifle’s original hammer/trigger pins, the proprietary design eliminates pin walkout.
The secret to long-range accuracy? It all starts with an amazing trigger and this trigger, is truly amazing.
The Impact trigger is Timney’s latest overnight success – 73 years in the making.
Allen Timney believed that the designs of the triggers used for military rifles could be markedly improved in several ways.
For one, the preset ones were tougher to pull than sport shooters may like. For another, it was tough to even install, let alone use.
Timney is known for producing scores of different triggers.
The differences may seem subtle, but they can make a world of difference based on the customer’s personal preferences.
The signature element of Timney Triggers products is the single-stage drop-in trigger.
This state-of-the-art design, found in items like the Calvin Elite and the HIT Trigger, is extremely simple to install into a rifle.
It simply slides in and uses the trigger and hammer pins of the rifle to stay in place.
Problems like slack and pin rotation are all but gone thanks to excellent engineering.
This type of trigger is compatible with a variety of rifles and handguns, making them even more convenient for the average competitive shooter.

advantages of timney triggers:
The Timney Pull Weight Gauge gives accurate, consistent pull weights from 8-oz to 10-lbs.
and is calibrated in Kg weights as well. It includes a tattle-tail indicator and wide hook, and is compact and easy to store with your gear.
like mine heavier at 3.5 pounds. I like to be able to touch my trigger and feel some resistance before I shoot. However, this is just my personal preference.
Trigger Types
The 2 main trigger types are curved and straight. Again, just like trigger pull weight, trigger type is a personal preference.
What is the history of Timney triggers?
Timney Triggers was founded on the need for easy-to-install, single-stage triggers for shooting enthusiasts sporterizing military rifles in the post-WWII era.
how do timney triggers work:
we as you pull the trigger bar it’s cocking the fire pin itself hits the connector then the firing pin falls.
now we’re having that sear catch the firing pin as the slide goes forward.
so we’re just holding that fire pin in place and then as the trigger moves back it just the sear drops off the fire pin log.
timney triggers installation:
Absolutely! For a cost of $40 for installation plus $35 for return shipping, you can leave it to the pros.

Below are the steps to take to ensure your firearm arrives to us safely:
- Use a plastic gun case inside a cardboard box to ship your rifle.
- Remove all accessories, inclusive of but not limited to, scopes, slings and tripods.
For liability purposes, we do need to ship the rifle back to you in a plastic case. If it arrives to us without a case,
we can provide a case for an additional fee.
Any Privately Manufactured Firearm(s) (PMF) sent to us will be identified, rejected, and immediately returned to the shipper.
Once a PMF is identified, we will make good faith effort to contact the shipper regarding the firearm and our policy pertaining to PMFs.
When returning the firearm(s) to the shipper we will include information regarding our policy as it pertains to the updated ATF regulations on PMFs.
As noted in our policy, the only exceptions to this will be PMFs that are brought in and returned to a customer the same business day.
We look forward to being of service to you and will contact you if there are any questions.
are timney triggers good:
Timney triggers are great! It’s crisp but not too much, just right. Extremely short single stage pull & one extremely happy customer.
Its accuracy dramatically increased: 9 lbs long pull – 1.5 perfect.
I’ve installed many Timney triggers and in most cases the process takes less than 30 minutes.
With very few exceptions, none require what I would call gunsmith work,
but in a few cases some additional inletting of the stock around the new trigger might be required.
The Timney trigger for the Remington 700 is representative of a typical Timney installation process:
First the factory trigger is removed by driving out two pins.
Then the new trigger is installed with the same two pins. If you select the model with the safety, the pins are essentially all there is to it.
You’ll need a screwdriver to remove the rifle action from the stock and a hammer and punch to work the pins.
Like most Timney triggers, their Remington 700 trigger is adjustable.
This is accomplished by turning two screws, allowing you to set over-travel to your liking and to lock in a
consistent pull weight anywhere between 1.5 to 4 pounds.
If you order direct from Timney’s online store, the company will set the pull weight for you.
